Alumnus Nathan Ryan Wins 10k Grant

from Canada Council For The Arts for his project Resonance which explores issues of telepresence, our mediation of nature, and info culture. The camera is built to look like an old hand crank camera, but the guts are all electronics.  The user turns the hand crank and images collected by the camera get transferred via WIFI and projected onto a giant outdoor screen.  If the audience cranks fast enough images will play back like full motion video, when they stop the last frame freezes on the screen until someone else comes along to play. Vimeo has an excerpt from the opening night: http://vimeo.com/theverant/pp5000projection
