Exhibition by Anna Binta Diallo

Opening: Thursday, February 18, 2016

5 PM

Inspired by the palimpsest, a parchment that is erased after each use so that it can be continually reused, artist Anna Binta Diallo created this series by successively rewriting, reinterpreting and reinventing the imagery and visual information that has been part of our collective history. With subjects relating to the Black Diaspora, Canada, to Indigenous peoples, and to her own personal history, this exhibition addresses a theme of re-inscription. She appropriates images from the internet, advertising, history books as well as personal photos to enrich the multiple narratives of her works.
