On May 8, 2014 Transart faculty member Nicolás Dumit Estévez spoke with radio presenter and producer Noreen Mir at Radio Television Hong Kong about his recent participation in the International Arts for Peace Festival in Hong Kong.

An interdisciplinary artist working in performance and mixed media installations, Estévez contextualized his participation in the Peace Festival, speaking about his 2011 “art and life experience” in The Balkans, Let’s Meet at the Bridge, for which he explores the largely invisible quotidian social connections made everyday.

Another highlight from the question-and-answer session is Estévez’s discussion of his 2011 performance Born Again, in which the Lebanese-Dominican artist is baptized with water from New York City’s Bronx River and reborn a Dominican New Yorker, specifically a “Bronxite”.

Listen to the interview and hear Estévez’s thoughts on art, social justice and peace at Radio Television Hong Kong.
