US Premiere of Christopher Danowski’s “romeo&juliet/VOID”

Tempe, AZ—Transart MPhil/PhD student Christopher Danowski premieres romeo&juliet/VOID at Arizona State University’s Paul V. Galvin Playhouse on November 14, 2014.

A reimagining of Shakespeare’s 16th century romantic tragedy, romeo&juliet/VOID is set in an underworld inhabited by forever longing, immortal lovers. Written by Danowski, the play is directed by Stephen Wrentmore, Associate Artistic Director of the Arizona Theatre Company.

Christopher Danowski is a media and performance artist. He is a “co-conspirator” of the Howl Theatre Project, a new performance group based in Phoenix, having formerly directed the non-profit experimental, transcultural performance collective Theatre in My Basement. Danowski earned a BA in theater (1989) and a MFA in playwriting (1992) from Arizona State University. His doctoral work at Transart focuses on desire and sorcery in new media performance. He teaches general theater, experimental performance, playwriting and ethnic studies at Arizona State University.
