Venue: 1067 PacificPeople @1067 Pacific Street, Brooklyn 11238
The POP UP GESTURE STORE Winter 2016 Collection “InDark” sells live-performances and fleeting gestures to discover the hidden; the physical and emotional condition of being displaced; and the idea of decomposing and hibernation. We encourage the customer to pay by giving a “live-gesture” back. The POP UP GESTURE STORE concept is conceived by Andrea Haenggi in collaboration with Robert Neuwirth and 1067 PacificPeople artist sellers.
Artists from the field of dance, choreography, social sculpture, situating art and language will participate at the Winter’s InDark POP UP GESTURE STORE: CARRIE AHERN, CATHERINE GRAU, ANDREA HAENGGI, CHRISTOPHER LEE KENNEDY AND ROBERT NEUWRITH
What if the relationship between artist and customer actually was equitable, authentic, more of a conversation and a sharing, a true exchange?
The Pop Up Gesture Store is a store that redefines experience, engagement and presence through live-performances. It challenges the method of payment for art and explores the alternative economy of making and buying live-performances — and blurring the lines between them. We encourage the customer to pay with our alternative currency by giving a gesture back. As well the Pop Up Gesture Store is an experiment how artists can get paid for there work and as well by participating in the Store they as well will have the opportunity to have for they same amount of days they are part of the Pop Up Gesture Store access to the 1067 PacificPeople place for free.

ABOUT 1067 PacificPeople:
1067 PacificPeople is a body – based interdisciplinary art work initiated by andrea haenggi. We comprise a classless class engaged in danceless dance and artless art. We find the political in the unpolitical, the unpolitical in the political. We find the love-less in love and love in the loveless. We practice dialectical immaterialism. We act in urgency. We are a tantric connection.
