Interdisciplinary Collaboration: 3 Approaches in the Arts
Contemporary art embraces notions of interdisciplinary research and practice.
Through collaboration with specialists in other areas, such as scientists,
anthropologists, and others, artists give a visual expression to complex ideas. It
is in this collaborative process that new ideas and new ways to think about the
material are discovered by all involved. The artists presented Todd Pavlisko,
Deborah Carruthers and Deborah Robinson, all work with others to question particular
issues, solve problems and ultimately create creative content. Their artworks can be
seen as the resulting documentation of their collaborative interdisciplinary
practices.
