Coventry, United Kingdom— Named Modern University of the Year 2014, Coventry University recently appointed Transart PhD candidate Rachelle Viader Knowles to the position of Senior Lecturer and Course Director for Fine Art.
Knowles travels to Coventry from the University of Regina in Saskatchewan, Canada where she worked for over a decade, most recently as Head and Graduate Coordinator for the Department of Visual Arts in the Faculty of Fine Arts and lead of Intermedia.
As an artist, researcher and educator, Rachelle Viader Knowles‘ interests center on dialogic and translocal strategies in visual and media art. She is currently organizing #3City Link, a dialogue-based, creative exchange project in the form of three simultaneous exhibitions/workshops/events with Coventry fine art students and their counterparts in Regina, Canada and Gyumri, Armenia .
Knowles’ work is exhibited widely across Canada. Recent venues include the Mendel Art Gallery, Saskatoon; Art Gallery of Calgary; Art Gallery of Windsor; Red Head Gallery, Toronto; Peak Gallery, Toronto; YYZ Artists Outlet, Toronto; MacKenzie Art Gallery, Regina; Art Gallery of Regina; and Neutral Ground Gallery, Regina. She holds an MFA in multimedia visual arts from the University of Windsor in Ontario, Canada (1996) and a BA in interactive art from the University of Wales in Cardiff, Wales, UK (1993).
