SIMON POPE SCREENED MEMORY MARATHON IN LONDON

Transart’s external examiner, Simon Pope recently hosted a screening of his recent film Memory Marathon at the prestigious Institute for Contemporary Arts, London. More information on the event:

Memory Marathon is an 80 minute film of a large-scale participative event in which artist Simon Pope walked a 26 mile marathon route through the five London boroughs that went on to host the 202 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Pope completed his journey in the company of over one hundred local residents in an unbroken relay. Each participant contributed a personal recollection from Olympic history, before passing the ‘baton’ of the microphone to the next person.

Continuing a series of trademark walking and memory projects by Pope, Memory Marathon is a unique collective undertaking that celebrates the enduring importance of personal memories.

Following the screening artist Simon Pope will be present for a Q&A.

To coincide with Simon Pope’s Memory Marathon, there is a screening of A Clockwork Orange on 3 September.

Memory Marathon was conceived and produced by Film and Video Umbrella, commissioned by the Olympic Delivery Authority and funded by the London Development Agency and Arts Council England.

ALUMNUS FREYA OLAFSON PRESENTS HYPER_.

TI alumnus Frey Olafson recently presented her piece Hyper_.  at the Asper Center for Theatre and Film, University of Winnipeg. “This new work exploits the dimensionality of the performers body in relationship to the immersive screen, moving seamlessly between 3D and 2D representations of corporeality. HYPER_ inherently becomes a site for expanded choreography where bodies and disembodied technology mix. The performers physique is dissected and transformed, disappearing and merging with the stage and screen. Animated by a series of transformations, layered and colorful, the body becomes a dreamscape.  HYPER_ deploys an intriguing combination of Lo and Hi technology to create stunning illusions and features lighting design by Hugh Conacher”

KHALED HAFEZ OPENS SOLO EXHIBITION
