Transart Faculty Lynn Book will speak at the Leadership Nouveau 2014 conference at the Museum of Modern Art, New York on April 28 and April 29, 2014.
Devoted to new ideas and strategies in the management of art and culture in the twenty-first century, Leadership Nouveau is a novel Canadian/American collaborative website-conference program. Book will participate in a panel discussing the role of innovation in arts education in a morning session on April 29.
A transmedia artist, Book works across the mediums of performance art, theater, dance, visual art, language and new media. She is the Associate Director of the Program for Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship at Wake Forest University where she is also a Visiting Associate Professor with the Department of Theatre and Dance. Book’s recent performance of German artist Kurt Schwitters’ early sound poem Ursonate, 1922, a rare occasion of a woman publicly performing the iconic work, is archived at PennSound, an ongoing project dedicated to producing new audio recordings as well as preserving existing audio archives.
Visit Leadership Nouveau online for more information about the conference. Audio recording of Book performing Ursonate as well as Book’s conversations with poet Amy Catanzano is available at PennSound; a video with high quality sound recording is viewable on YouTube.
