Transart MFA Student Claire Elizabeth Barratt showing her installation “RAW-(Material): EarthDay”, Asheville NC.
April 23, 12pm – 12am @ Henco Reprographics
In this durational installation, Claire Elizabeth Barratt and a team of performers will explore the transformation of both the raw materials of the self and of the environment into mediums for art. The multidisciplinary performance will include live music, dance, video, text, and organic materials of the Western North Carolina springtime. It will span twelve hours; viewers are encouraged to come and go throughout. In her work, Barratt aims to redefine the boundaries of a ‘piece’ and to require a rethinking of audience relationships. Barratt has taught and performed in the US, Canada, Europe, and Japan, and is the director of Cilla Vee Life Arts.
