Berlin Open Studio (BOS) is a new contemporary art event initiated by artists. It is being held annually in the city of Berlin, this year presenting its second edition. Jointly organized by artists, art theorists and art lovers living and working in Berlin, the event seeks to explore the city’s infrastructure on the level of artistic production: Studios throughout the city function as participating venues in which individual artists present their work, while simultaneously hosting that of other artists. This specific set-up is inspired by Yogyakarta Open Studio in Indonesia and allows for a semi-presentational mode, in which artists define the terms of interaction. Hospitality, the pilot edition of BOS (2014), presented the work of 21 international artists in 7 studios in the Berlin city districts of Schöneberg, Neukölln, Friedrichshain, Friedenau and Kreuzberg. This year’s edition Double Exposure will run from 15 – 25 October 2015.
